~Fly Away~ 我是一只小小小小鸟

The 1-week-long spring break will be ending in 2 more days. By the time I am writing this post, some of my friends are having the precious moment with their families in KLIA as they will be having a safe journey to overseas for their studies. Yep. It's 6.11pm in Malaysia now and they should be attending a briefing from JPA representatives as what I have experienced before. After 2 hours, they will be boarding MAS airplane and leaving their parents and Malaysia. Sounds sad right? Well. Just try to think positively and it's actually a great thing to be cherished about.

Yeah. We --- who origin from Bukit Mewah and Chung Hua are everywhere all around the world, ranging from Australia, NewZealand, Germany, USA, and last but not least Canada. These opportunities are granted with the blessing of GoD and some lucks. I am pretty sure that all of us have never imagined, or even believed that we could eventually step onto foreign countries and sit in the same class with those foreigners.

  • I am sure Yixiang is doing pretty good at Carnegie Mellon and 1 thing that surprises all of us is that he is now in a relationship with a Jew. Pro Yx!
  • Melvin Wong will difinitely enjoy his life and study in Australia and maybe he will follow Yx's trail?Haha.
  • My bro, Mingjoun. Hope you have a safe journey to New Zealand and it's glad that Yeong Fatt is going to the same university with you.
  • Jing Xiong will be heading to Germany. Pity you man. Your course takes long time than ours.LOL
  • One Luv will also be going oversea next year. Sad wu.
  • And, our leng zai James who hope to get scholarship to oversea. To achieve that, U MUST STOP DOTA LIAO! u can do it man! gambateh
Yup. Now let's talk about the plans of going back to Malaysia during summer break. As I know, summer break in Australia and NewZealand falls between November and February. This indicates that my fellow besties have the chance to celebrate CNY in Malaysia. Envy! Unfortunately, Yx and I will be missing CNY celebrations for 4 years. >>>>>4 YEARS!!<<<<<
But 1 common thing is that all of us will surely cherish the moment of being together with families and friends.

Good luck to MJ, FT, JX, MEL and the others that I miss. Hope you all have a great time in overseas. Yeah. And to all my friends in Malaysia, all the best in your studies too. Hehe there will be one day when all of us meet together again. Hehe. Finally, for all of us in UBC, let's endure the 2 months left in the first year. Amen.

I suspected that I am suffering from hemorrhoid. DIE lo me.ZZZ.

I know I Am Bad..Forgive me

New term has just started. Everything is not as smooth as anticipated. The schedule of timetable becomes a horrible nightmare for me. 3 months are not long, but I could not wait any longer for 30th of April. Loads of assignment, upcoming quizzes and midterms, and frequent lab and tutorial sessions -- This is how dull my life in Canada. Yesterday, my roommate played Chinese New Year songs. It made me recall the previous celebrations of Chinese New Year. Chinese New Year is just around the corner. At this time, there should be festive atmosphere, continuous playback of Chinese New Year songs, decorations and goods on sale everywhere in Malaysia. Sardonically, in Vancouver where many Chinese people stay in, I could not feel the atmosphere of this important event. Worst of all, it will be same for the coming 3 years. What ?! ?! Am i gonna to miss CNY for four years ? Omfg.. I miss the gathering of all relatives in my grandmothers` houses, I miss the time we having dinner together, I miss the scene when my mother and my aunts preparing dinner in the kitchen, I miss the time I listen to the conversations between my dad and my uncles, I miss the air of excitement in such a big family, and for sure I miss the time when my friends and I visit others`houses from day to night, I miss the time I stay at my friend`s house grambling and chatting, I miss the experience of being warned by police because of playing fire crackers and I miss everything about CNY!!!

Indeed, I don`t really like studying in Canada. I prefer my hometown, my country, and the culture. If I opted to study in local U, at least I can go home every weekend. That`s the difference between weekdays and weekends. However, the weekdays here seem persist endlessly. For any other unknown reasons, that really make me prefer studying in local U than studying abroad. I used to feel boring staying at home. BUt now I really cherish it. Think further, after four years, we have to embark our careers. There will not be much time left to stay at home. And, at the age of 22++, we are not teenagers anymore. We are the grown ups. We are mature at that time. We will miss the time when we were still teenagers, staying at home having teenagers-like routine, argueing with parents, and .....etc. Erm.. I can`t really explain these with words. These words might cause some confusions , but hopefully they will bring the meaning I am trying to express.

Indeed, studying abroad has its pros and cons, depend on the person himself or herself. Some might think that it is a golden opportunity, but this type of thinking will only persist until the time comes, when he or she realizes something important in the life. If I am given the chance to remake my decision, I will opt to study at local. No doubt...

``107 days left``, ``9244800 second left``...These are the personal messages of my friend. For sure I am not the only one who possess the feeling. April 30....I can imagine we boarding the plane, arriving KLIA, and going home with parents who are awaiting us in the airport. Everyone is anticipating for the important date. There comes the 4 months, having a good time in Malaysia.....

Winter Break

Pooh! This blog has been abandoned for a long time. I had spent the whole winter break by staying in room, watching movie and playing game. Indeed, this is an ideal time to relax after the 3-months-courses. Here's the routine:

2pm: Wake up and have dinner in village(or Alma)
3pm: Play DOTA && watch movie
7pm: Dinner
9pm: Play DOTA && watch movie
4am: zzZ

Meaningless and dull! Wow. Some of them went to Toronto and Montreal. I couldn't follow because I had to survive the first 2 months of second term with the leftover in my bank account. Envy! For sure that it would be a nice trip. However, I am in Vancouver! Vancouver is not worse than Toronto in any aspect. Lolx.

What I regret is that I missed Christmas and New Year celebration in Vancouver. Since they are only 2 of us, we did not really feel excited of seeking out any activities in those memorable days. Besides, UBC has become a "dead city" in this winter break. We can hardly see any trace of cars and people when the days start turning dark at 4pm. Well. I guess the atmosphere in downtown will definitely different, since downtown is the main developed part of Vancouver, as if Kuala Lumpur is the symbol of urbanization in Malaysia. When everybody asked how I spend those nights, they expected that I would have had a nice time and new experience in foreign. Unfortunately, my answer towards them is >staying at h0me<. LOLX. Frankly, I did feel regret of not taking initiatives to try something new and witness the celebrations in Vancouver.

I also had found out that electrical enginering will be the most challenging course from Umair(snail's housemate). Some quotes from him:
1) the most challenging course in engineering
2) sometimes have to stay in lab to complete the practical assignments
3) cannot go back to Msia during second year summer break and so far so on.
4) a department where least girls major in ("its boring!" lolx) What else could I say? That's GG loh.

Well. These might be some craps, but I don't really know how to update my blog. Last but not least, NEW YEAR NEW HOPE. I vow to study hard. However, I think most probably I will fail myself. It does need strong determination. And, 4 more months to go. For sure I will be back to Malaysia in summer break. Else, staying here for ?? Fuck?? LOlx. Amen. Some random pics:

MAGGI YUMMY YUMMY

Since we have come to UBC, all of us has adopt habit of eating instance noodles. Found this from an email:

INSTANT NOODLES

Dear instant noodle lovers,

Make sure you break for at least 3 days after one session of instant noodles before you eat your next packet! Please read the info shared to me by a doctor. My family stopped eating instant noodles more than 5 years ago after hearing about the wax coating the noodles - the wax is not just in the Styrofoam containers but it coats the noodles. This is why the instant noodles do not stick to each other when cooking.

If one were to examine the ordinary Chinese yellow noodles in the market, one will notice that, in their uncooked state the noodles are oily. This layer of oil prevents the noodles from sticking together.

Wanton noodles in their uncooked state have been dusted with flour to prevent them sticking together. When the hawker cooks the noodles, notice he cooks them in hot water and then rinses them in cold water before cooking them in hot water again. This process is repeated several times before the noodles are ready to be served. The cooking and rinsing process prevents noodles from sticking together.

The hawker then 'lowers the noodles in oil and sauce to prevent the noodles from sticking if they are to be served dry. Cooking instructions for spaghetti require oil or butter to be added in the water when boiling the spaghetti to prevent the pasta from sticking together. Otherwise, one gets a big clump of spaghetti!

There was an SBC (now TCS) actor some years ago, who at a busy time of his career had no time to cook, resorted to eating instant noodles everyday. He got cancer later on. His doctor told him about the wax in instant noodles. The doctor told him that our body will need up to 2 days to clear the wax. There was also an SIA steward who after moving out from his mother's house into his own house, did not cook but ate instant noodles almost every meal. He had cancer, and has since died from it.

Nowadays the instant noodles are referred as ' cancer noodles '.

Good luck everybody, NOT EXCLUDING ME, one of the instant noodles lovers.

幸亏我与母亲还有保持联络(either using extra extra phone card or msning when my mother go to my grandma house). 除了能再度见到母亲,我还能与一些朋友聚旧,向母亲学习一门厨艺,品尝大马佳肴,睡在我心爱的床上。SYOKNYA! 好期待明年五月的到来啊!

My beloved Acer

Finals are just around the corner. Unfortunately, my laptop malfunctioned at previous night. The screen suddenly turned red and blank. I had no choice to perform a forcing shutdown. Everything was gone after that. I switched on the laptop and the screen stayed blank and did not respond. I tried for a few times and it's still the same. This morning, after the diag. test the man told me that the hard disk is in good condition. He claimed that most probably there are some problems with the motherboard, and it will cost approximately $235 to fix it. However, I can't ensure myself that there will not be other problems after the fixing. Indeed, Acer is sux, maybe, as many friends were facing some other similiar problems with their ACERS too. However, I love my Acer. It has been with me for 1 1/4 years. Moreover, I bought it using my mum's own saving. Why could this happen to me? Also, should I pay to fix it, or buy a new laptop? Any suggestion, please?
